Rain, storms will impact Christmas Eve travel plans

MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT)- The next couple of days will be dry before a strong cold front moves in Thursday bringing heavy rain to Middle Georgia.

TODAY.

Sunshine is back in full force this afternoon all across the southeast! Temperatures in Middle Georgia will climb into the middle 60’s before falling into the middle 30’s overnight. We will stay very dry as high pressure slides across the area tonight.

TOMORROW.

We will start the day off mostly sunny before clouds steadily increase throughout the day. High temperatures will run in the middle 60’s. An isolated shower or two is possible after sunset, but the heaviest rain moves in Thursday.

CHRISTMAS EVE & DAY.

A strong cold front will bring widespread showers to our area on Thursday. One to two inches of rain is likely to fall throughout the day. The good news is that the rain will come to an end Thursday night just in time for Santa. Chilly temperatures move in behind the front. Overnight lows will fall into the middle 20’s before highs only make it into the middle 40’s on Christmas Day.
