Rain, Rain, and More Rain

MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT) – The rain finally ends tonight before more rain returns at the end of the week.

Today.

This past weekend much of Middle Georgia saw nearly an inch of rain as showers persisted throughout the weekend. We will keep the rain and overcast conditions throughout the day today as a light mist and drizzle will continue to fall across much of the area. With the increased cloud cover, afternoon temperatures will make it to the middle and upper 40’s across Middle Georgia which is well below the average temperature of 61° for this time of year. Scattered rain showers return in the late afternoon and early evening hours before dissipating overnight. Temperatures will stay above freezing tonight so black ice is not a concern as you head out the door on your Tuesday morning.

Tomorrow.

A general clearing trend will begin overnight tonight which will leave us with a mostly sunny sky for the next couple of days. Temperatures will be on the comfortable side hanging around the upper 50’s for the next several days.

Extended.

An area of high pressure will once again build in from the west before sliding off to the northeast later in the week. This weather pattern is setting up like last week where rain returns for the weekend. I expect the bulk of the rain to move into Middle Georgia late Thursday evening and early Friday morning before exiting on Saturday. While rain is in the forecast, the good news is that the entire weekend will not be a washout as I expect a mostly dry Sunday afternoon!
