Rain didn’t stop Amerson River Park visitors on Labor Day
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A few showers didn’t stop people from floating down the Ocmulgee on Labor Day. Families played with their children on the playground while others enjoyed a stroll down the new hiking trails. One Crawford County resident came to the park after watching some of her family members run in the Labor Day Road Race.
“It started sprinkling, raining on us just a little bit and everything, but, they still wanted to play on the playground, so I let them go ahead because it’s not lightning or anything like that and everybody is going down the river in rafts and everything like that so it’s just beautiful today,” says Gail Overturf.
The park is open Wednesday through Sunday. County officials hope to have it open seven days a week in the future, but they need more staff members to do that.
