(CNN)- In Atlanta, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s town hall was repeatedly interrupted by protesters. Law enforcement intervened, removing several individuals from the event, arresting three, and using stun guns in two instances. Despite the disruptions, Greene continued the event, applauding the police response. “Thank you to our great police officers,” she said, as attendees clapped in support.
During the event, Greene displayed constituent questions critical of the Trump administration on a projector. She read them aloud and responded, at one point pushing back sharply. “Unfortunately, you’re being brainwashed by the news that you’re watching,” Greene told one constituent. “A lot of Democrats pride themselves on being educated, and I suggest they educate themselves better.”
In contrast, Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley took a quieter approach at his own town hall, largely listening to concerns about President Trump’s policies.
“I’m trying to recapture the constitutional authority of Article 1 Section A,” said Grassley, referencing one of Congress’s enumerated powers.
Democrats also faced scrutiny from their voters. Representative Sarah Elfreth of Maryland acknowledged frustration from constituents who feel Democrats aren’t doing enough to challenge President Trump and congressional Republicans.
“I hear the criticism that we’re not doing enough,” Elfreth said. “I’m never going to lie to somebody as a politician. I can’t do things in the minority that I think people wish I could do. So, I’m doing what I can do.”
