Progressive Christian Academy Changes Name
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Progressive Christian Academy is changing its name to Hope Academy of Macon in light of recent lawsuits and legal issues.
The school’s owner, E.T. Strickland, said the school is operating under the new name as a result of a recent restraining order. Last month, Betty Tolbert, the founder of Progressive Christian Academy, filed a lawsuit against Sunrise Enterprises, Inc. of Palm Beach County.
The restraining orders say the defendant is to “dispose of any assets formerly owned by B.Johnson Ministries, Inc….using licenses accreditation and other credentials of the school formerly known as Progressive Christian Academy, and using the name or likeliness of Betty J. Tolbert”.
Earlier this month, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning ordered the school to close its preschool programs due to licensing issues.
