President Trump returns from Middle East trip as final Israeli hostages arrive home

(NBC)- Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump returned to the White House following a historic Middle East trip aimed at cementing peace in Gaza.

“Historic day, to put it mildly,” the president said after signing a landmark peace deal that led to the release of the remaining 20 Israeli hostages — all of whom are now home after two harrowing years in captivity.

Across Israel, emotional reunions are bringing comfort to a nation scarred by loss. Among the most symbolic moments — the reunion of Noa Argamani and her boyfriend, Avinatan Or. Their abduction by Hamas during the October 7th attacks became one of the most haunting images of the war. Noa was rescued last year — and now, Avinatan has finally returned home, leaping into her arms upon his release.

In Gaza, nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners were also freed as part of the same peace deal, returning to a region still reeling from years of devastation.

President Trump joined 20 other world leaders at a peace summit in Egypt, where discussions focused on rebuilding Gaza and ensuring long-term stability.

“We’re going to have a lot of money coming into Gaza and a lot of rebuilding and building,” Trump said, thanking neighboring Arab nations for pledging financial and logistical support.

“I met with many of the people in this room, and it all just started coming together,” he added.

For now, Israel and Hamas have agreed to only the first phase of Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan. Key questions remain over Hamas’s disarmament, its role in governance, and who will lead Gaza through the fragile path forward.
