President Trump debuts Scotland golf course amid trade, war, Gaza crisis talks

(NBC)- President Trump shifted briefly from diplomacy to business, debuting a new golf course at one of his resorts in Scotland. The unveiling came after a round of high-stakes meetings with UK and European leaders focused on trade.

The President announced a new agreement with the European Union, just ahead of a looming Friday deadline, when higher tariffs are set to take effect for countries that haven’t secured trade deals.

“For the world,” Trump said of the agreement, “I would say it’ll be somewhere in the 15 to 20% range.”

In addition to trade, Trump addressed the ongoing war in Ukraine, saying he would no longer wait 50 days for a resolution. Instead, he’s now demanding that Russian President Vladimir Putin end the war within 10 to 12 days.

“There’s no reason in waiting,” he said, while also threatening additional sanctions and secondary tariffs on Russia’s trade partners. “Every time I think it’s going to end, he kills people,” Trump added, voicing his continued frustration with Putin.

Trump also broke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Netanyahu has downplayed claims of starvation, but Trump rejected that view.

“Some of those kids — that’s real starvation stuff, I see it, and you can’t fake that,” the President said.

Trump pledged increased U.S. support to establish more food distribution centers in Gaza with fewer restrictions. His comments follow mounting global outrage over the extreme food shortages and rising deaths from malnutrition in the region.

While Israel has begun limited airdrops and short pauses in fighting to allow some aid in, humanitarian groups say the flow of supplies is far too slow to prevent famine.
