Portion of Macon road dedicated to Rev. Dr. Lonzy Edwards

A dedication ceremony for the late commissioner was held at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A portion of Millerfield Road from Century Place to Finney Circle is now dedicated to former Bibb County Commissioner Lonzy Edwards.

Macon-Bibb County celebrated a street dedication to honor Rev. Dr. Lonzy Edwards on Tuesday.

A ceremony for the late commissioner was held at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Fellow colleagues, friends and family members got up and spoke to the crowd about how the pastor shaped east Macon.

The portion of Millerfield Road will now be known as Reverend Doctor Lonzy Edwards Way.

Edwards died on April 29, 2016.
