Plenty of rain Thursday and Friday, and a small chance for snow flurries

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Let me preface this by saying this is a volatile forecast. Everything really has to line up for snow flurries to occur, and if they do, we’re not expecting accumulation. With that out of the way, let’s get into the rainfall.

Today, a large amount of rain pushes into the state. Widespread showers move through this afternoon, mostly in the form of continuous light to moderate showers. Isolated downpours are possible, but it’ll mostly just be a consistent rainfall. High will be around 50.

This evening, showers are mostly isolated, and overnight, I’m not forecasting much rain. Consider that our break as tomorrow morning — so far around 7 or 8 — another round of rain associated with a cold front enters the area. The chance for heavy rain is higher tomorrow morning than today, and in the afternoon, the bulk of the rain will have moved to the northeast. High tomorrow will be around 58.

Then we come to Saturday morning. The Euro model, which I find most reliable, has a chance for precipitation Saturday morning. Looking at what we have, we can say that there’s a slim chance so far for a few flurries in northern counties in the area. Nothing that will accumulate into anything, but definitely a possibility in the early morning hours. By Saturday afternoon, we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds and feel a chilly high of 48.
