Pleasant Hill Pastors Unite for Change
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Some pastors in the Pleasant Hill community, are coming together to make a difference in the area.
They say they want to make a positive change by advancing the next generation.
The group met Tuesday, at Vineville United Methodist Church to put final touches on an upcoming event designed to create cohesiveness in their community.
“We have formed a ministerial alliance and that was birth out of the need in the community,” said the senior pastor of The Community Church of God. “There is no way I know way, we as one church or Vineville United Methodist could do it. So one of the things we did, we decided we have to come together to try to take a strategic approach into ministering to the Pleasant Hill community.”
Pleasant Hill ministerial alliance plans to hold Macon’s mayor and city council accountable to promises they made to be elected into office. They say they are looking to the city for help to build their community into a viable economic area, to attract new business, creating new jobs, and educating their congregations.
Pastors of various church denominations are uniting to reach several common goals, such as better communication among church, civic and government leaders as well as revitalizing Pleasant Hill.
“We are also looking to improve the education of our kids in this community,” said the senior pastor of Greater Allen Chapel, Billy McFadden. “The church’s in this community, all of them have their hands on the various public schools in our community.”
‘Prayers and Praise of Pleasant Hill’ is a Thanksgiving community service event. It is scheduled to be held Nov. 24, at Vineville United Methodist Church.
“We’ll gather for a service that will include some of the church choirs, a children’s choir from campus clubs that are housed at Strong Tower,” said the senior pastor of the church, Jimmy Asbell. “We will combine our voices and read scripture and pray together, giving thanks for the blessings of this community and praying for the things we need.”
