MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Piedmont Macon North is offering bariatric surgery for people with a high BMI.
Piedmont Macon North Hospital’s Bariatrics Program Coordinator, Patricia Redington, says bariatric surgery is for patients who have a significant amount of weight to lose.
“Bariatric procedures, depending on which one you choose, they offer a 50% to 60% loss of that excess weight,” says Redington.
Piedmont Macon North offers LAP-Band, maintenance to LAP-Band, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional surgeries.
The hospital offers a bariatrics support group that meets virtually each month. The support group gives people the chance to meet others who have had weight-loss surgery and to get their questions answered. Attendees can share recipes, engage with a variety of guest speakers and more.
The next virtual support group meeting is February 5 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
