Piedmont doctor shares advice for Men’s Health Awareness Month
Piedmont Primary Care physician Dr. Syed Rizvi says it's important for men to talk to their doctors.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — June marks Men’s Health Awareness Month, and a Piedmont doctor is encouraging men to prioritize their health.
Dr. Syed Rizvi, a primary care physician with Piedmont, says it’s important for men to talk to their doctors.
Rizvi cited a recent study that found at least 55% of men do not get screenings or visit their doctor regularly. He said even if men don’t have a chronic health condition, they still need to schedule routine checkups.
Rizvi recommends screenings for prostate and colorectal cancer.
“For younger men, testicular cancer screening is important, and for smokers, lung cancer screening is advised after age 50,” Rizvi said.
He encourages all men to meet with their doctors and stay up to date on regular screenings.
