Petition Explains Execution Delay for Daniel Greene

ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A petition surrounding the execution of a Taylor County man who was scheduled to die by lethal injection Thursday was delayed, and a petition explains the Board of Pardons and Paroles decision to grant stay. 

Some of the last-minute appeals outlined in the petition say the attack was a “drug-crazed transgression” that marred his otherwise exemplary life.  It also includes a letter from Greene apologizing for the suffering he caused the victims family.

Tuesday the board granted mercy to Greene up to 90 days saying it needs more time to review the case.

Greene was sentenced to die for the stabbing death of 20-year-old Bernard Walker.
