Perry PD: 10 juveniles linked to 27 vehicle break-ins

Five vehicles sustained damage to ignitions and steering columns, according to investigators.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Detectives with the Perry Police Department have arrested 10 juvenile offenders in connection with a string of entering auto cases reported between June 29 and August 7.

Police said 27 vehicles were entered during the crime spree, which spanned several neighborhoods, including Cameron Court Apartments, Berkshire Court Apartments, Perry Heights Apartments, Oliver Place Apartments, Sewell Circle, Alice Drive, Spring Creek Drive, Third Street and Northside Road.

Five vehicles sustained damage to ignitions and steering columns, according to investigators. Three stolen firearms were recovered, along with other property including shoes and an iPad.

The juveniles face charges ranging from entering auto and property damage to theft by taking and receiving firearms. One suspect also faces a charge under the Georgia Gang Act. Police said some of the juveniles were detained, while others were released to their guardians.

During the investigation, detectives executed two residential search warrants, conducted four consent searches and seized eight cellphones.

The Perry Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and report suspicious activity immediately.
