Perry named WaterFirst Community

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The city of Perry is named a WaterFirst Community by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA). The city received the honor during its November 3rd city council meeting.

According to a Perry news release, the WaterFirst program is a voluntary partnership between local governments, state agencies, and other organizations. They work together to improve quality of life through the management and protection of water resources.

Program criteria include watershed management, stormwater management, water supply planning, protection, conservation, education, and regional planning. The community must pass an onsite review after an application process and management audit.

Perry is one of 37 Georgia cities designated as a WaterFirst Community.
