Man arrested near Perry High School during Code Red; threat investigation ongoing
Deputies say arrest was not related to school threat; no active danger reported

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Deputies with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man near Perry High School while the campus was under a Code Red status.
Authorities said the arrest was not related to the initial investigation at the school.
Deputies said the man refused to obey lawful commands from a deputy on the perimeter of the campus. After multiple attempts to gain compliance failed, deputies arrested him and charged him with obstruction of officers.
Authorities transported the man to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Threat investigation prompts Code Red at school
The sheriff’s office said the Code Red was issued after a threat toward Perry High School was received by telephone.
Deputies and school officials responded and assessed the situation.
Authorities said there is no active threat on campus.
School returns to normal operations
Officials said Perry High School has since returned to normal operations.
The investigation into the threat remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The sheriff’s office said the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff remains its primary concern.
Officials said threats of this nature are taken seriously and that all available resources will be used to investigate the situation.
