Perry Exchange Club Hosts 3rd Annual Kody Lucas Blood Drive

A four year cancer survivor in Houston County is giving back to the community.

Perry High School graduate Kody Lucas has battled a brain tumor since 2007. He recently had a relapse, but he isn’t letting his fight with cancer stop him from helping others.

This Saturday the Perry Exchange Club will join Kody in his fight by sponsoring his third annual birthday blood drive.

Kody was given a 20 percent chance to survive when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He’s managed to beat those odds.

“We’re all going to fight with him because that’s just what we do,” said Kody’s mother Donna Moss.

Kody says, “I’m just getting the word out about my birthday party and seeing if we can get as many people to show up.”

“It means a lot to me that we can hopefully give a bunch of people a second chance.”

Kody has purchased special wristbands with his own money to give as gifts to everyone who shows their support.

The blood drive is Saturday, July 16 at Rozar Park – 1060 Keith Drive in Perry.

Donate blood or show your support from 10 to 3PM.
