Perry Copper Thief Sentenced to 25 Years

A copper thief from Perry is sent to prison for 25 years. Today the Houston County Superior Court sentenced 35-year-old Boris Watkins to serve 14 of those years behind bars without the possibility of parole.

Last week, Watkins was found guilty of cutting the wire on irrigation systems, removing wire from farmer’s fields and for burning the covering off wire.

Watkins also has to pay more than $48,000 in restitution to the farmer’s whose irrigation systems were damaged.
