Perry appoints new Chief of Police

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The city of Perry officially has a new Chief of Police.

During Perry’s city council meeting on January 3rd, Alan Everidge was appointed as the City’s Police Chief– Everidge had been serving as the interim Police Chief since July of 2022.

Everidge has been serving in law enforcement since 1987, and worked a majority of the time at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office in patrol and traffic divisions, an investigator in juvenile and criminal investigations, as well as jail administrator. He has an associate and bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, and a master’s degree in public administration. He also graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia and has served in Georgia Law Enforcement International Exchange program in Israel.

Chief Everidge had this to say about becoming Chief:

“I was blessed with growing up in Perry and raise my family here. I am honored to be selected to serve as Chief. The Perry Police Department has a great staff and community support. I look forward to serving in this role. My goal is that Perry continues to be a great place to live, work, and play,”
