Perdue wins US Senate race
Democrats hoped Nunn, the centrist daughter of popular former Sen. Sam Nunn, would enable them to pick up a seat in an otherwise dismal midterm election.
But Perdue sustained repeated attacks on his business record by Nunn and outside groups. His chief argument to voters was that Nunn would be a rubber stamp for President Barack Obama and national Democrats including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Democrats had seen Nunn as one of their best hopes to thwart a GOP push for a majority.
During Nunn’s concession speech, she wished Perdue the best and thanked her supporters.
After thanking everyone for their hard work, Perdue assured his supports he is going to get right to work.
“I just want to tell you right now… that with your help and God’s will, we will change the direction of our country,” said Perdue.
Senator Johnny Isakson wants to work side by side with Perdue to better the state of Georgia.
“The first thing I’d like to see us do is get the Keystone Pipeline to the floor of the Senate and get it on the president’s desk,” noted Senator Isakson.
Senator Isakson thinks the Republican’s control of the Senate will better the system of checks and balances.
“You have a president in one party and the legislative branch in another party. You have divided power that’s equal,” explained Senator Isakson.
Perdue had a consistent message throughout his campagin – to change the direction of our country.
He wants to reduce the National Debt, secure the nation’s boarders, and institute a term limit for elected officials.
