Pedestrian Killed in Milledgeville
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A pedestrian has been killed early this morning near West Campus Drive, at U.S. Highway 441, according to a news release sent out by the Georgia State Patrol.
The victim, 22-year-old Victor Chatfield of Milledgeville, was hit by a Hyundai Sonata at around 5:20am.
The Sonata was being driven by 45-year-old Jeffery Ledbetter of Eatonton, Georgia, who did not see the victim when he hit him. The impact was strong enough to shatter the vehicle’s windshield, forcing the driver to pull into a nearby store. This was not a hit and run, and once Ledbetter realized what had happened, he called 911.
Also according to the release, there had been earlier reports of a pedestrian staggering in the roadway.
