Pedestrian killed in early morning crash on Hawkinsville Road

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Wednesday morning in Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – According to deputies, the incident happened around 5:21 a.m. along Hawkinsville Road near the intersection of Avondale Mill Road. Authorities say a driver traveling south struck a 43-year-old man riding a bicycle in the outside lane.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the victim unresponsive. Paramedics attempted to provide medical care, but the man died from his injuries.

Officials say the driver remained at the scene following the crash.

The collision remains under investigation, and investigators are working to determine exactly what led up to the incident. Pedestrian crashes continue to be a concern across the area, as similar incidents have occurred on major roadways in Bibb County in recent months.
