Pedestrian killed in collision on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Pio Nono Avenue.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Pio Nono Avenue.
According to a news release, the crash happened at the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Ell Street. The call came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 10:01 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Investigators say the driver of a white BMW sedan was traveling north on Pio Nono Avenue and moved into the center lane to avoid another driver turning right onto the roadway from Ell Street. As the BMW entered the center lane, it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway and wearing dark clothing.
The pedestrian, identified as 57-year-old James Milburn Evans Jr., was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
No other injuries were reported in connection to the crash. According to Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley, next of kin has been notified.
The incident remains under investigation.
