Peach Regional Medical Center Doing Well After Opening in the Summer

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Peach County Regional Medical Center in Byron has been open for just about two months, and the staff there says things are running smoothly, but there’s still some room for improvement.

Nurses at Peach Regional Medical Center are hard at work, making sure patients like Gerald Phelps are getting all the help they need.

Gerald was hit by a car six months ago and broke several bones, now he’s going through rehab at the hospital.

“I can feel the spirit in here. Its nice people, they treat me so nice and Ms. Tracey, she’s going to make you work and that’s what makes me feel so good,” Phelps said. “I love her, just having her and God like I said my sisters and brothers, my children and grandchildren, that’s what I’m living for.”

Peach Regional has been open since the middle of July and more and more people are starting to make their way to the state of the art facility that’s just two minutes off of the I-75 interstate.

“It’s going great, the hospital is open, it’s here for the community, our volumes are picking up, people are coming in left and right and when they come in, they’re just amazed at how beautiful the hospital is and how fortunate we are to have a hospital here in Peach County,” Ellen Terrell, Director of Community Engagement at the hospital said.

She says since the building has opened its doors, everything has worked out well, but now people need to know where the hospital is.

“Everyday somebody says ‘Oh we didn’t realize y’all had opened or we didn’t know where y’all were located. So just getting the word out in the community that we’re here and that we’re open and that we’re a full range hospital with all the in patient and out patient services, they could possibly want,” Terrell said.

And for patients like Gerald, he’s happy the hospital will help him get back on his feet.
