Parts of The Unionville Neighborhood Is Getting A Makeover

MACON,Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Today, several buildings in the Unionville Neighborhood were demolished as part of the City’s clean up and revitalization plan. The city’s Department of Public Works has been working all day to clean parts of the Unionville Neighborhood. Several buildings just off of Moore Street in Macon were demolished.

The demolition is part of the city’s “5x5x5” program aimed to demolish 100 abandoned buildings per year. More than 350 abandoned buildings have been demolished since the program started.

“I hope this is another sign that we are sending to the community that the Unionville area is not forgotten and that it is a focus of our attention,” said Macon Mayor Robert Reichert.

Mayor Reichert says the city is taking a step by step approach to improving neighborhoods in every Ward of the city.
