Paris Running for State Senate in 2014
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMFT) — Former State Senator Miriam Paris is getting back on the campaign trail.
At a news conference on Coleman Hill with family, friends, and community leaders by her side, Paris announced she wants her seat back in 2014.
Paris said she announced early to let her constituents know she’s ready to get back to serving them.
“I’ve had time now for self reflection and prayer. I’ve listened to friends, family, and supporters, and I believe I am still being called to serve,” said Paris.
Paris didn’t take any questions after the announcement. She said she’s looking forward to having healthy discussions about the issues impacting her district throughout the year.
This will be her third run for senate seat District 26. Paris beat State Senator David Lucas in a special election in 2011. She lost the seat when Lucas challenged her in 2012.
