Parents and Children become Scientists for a day
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Families were able to embrace their inner scientists this weekend at the Ocmulgee National Monument annual Bio Blitz.
The event involved parents and children taking pictures of butterflies in fields throughout the park.
There was also face painting and arts and crafts for children.
Angela Bates, Park Ranger said the Bio Blitz is helpful.
“Every year we end up identifying two to three different species that we did not know we had in the parks, so it’s a great family event. It’s very educational for kids to learn about butterflies and their different life cycles,” Bates said.
Bates said every year 400 to 800 people show up for the event.
