Owner of Pit Bulls Could Face Charges After Attack

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The owner of two pit bulls that attacked a Macon woman Thursday could face charges.

Cara Cotton with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the district attorney will review the case before determining what charges may be filed.

According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, a lady who lives in the 5300 block of Houston Road near Skyview Mobile Home Park was in her yard just after 1 p.m. when she was attacked by the two dogs, which had apparently gotten out of their enclosure.

The victim suffered severe bite wounds to her head, face, neck, arms and a foot during the attack.  A neighbor beat the dogs with a stick to get them off the victim.  The dogs’ owner was apparently not home.

Minutes later, a Bibb deputy shot both of the dogs after they charged him.

In the report, the deputy wrote he “feared for his life” after watching one of the dogs scale an 8-10 foot fence and charge toward him.

The second dog was shot after it charged the deputy from behind.
