Overall Crime Up in Macon, Police Chief Remains Optimistic

Today Macon Police release the latest crime statistics. Overall numbers show crime is up from 2009 to 2010 by 142 incidents. However, Police Chief Mike Burns is optimistic the department will crack down on more crime this year.

“My property detectives, they’ve already came up with a couple of operations they want to try. We had our retreat last week. I got to review everybody’s goals and objectives their striving for this year and residential burglaries seem to be pretty much the top of the priority,” explained Chief Mike Burns, Macon Police.

Arson, auto theft, larceny, rape and robbery all went down from 2009 to 2010. Assault, aggravated assault, burglary and homicides declined. ?
