Open Streets Macon 2025 looking for 100 volunteers for upcoming program

Open Streets Macon is back and ready to transform Macon's streets into a car-free public space for walking, biking and play.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Open Streets Macon is back and ready to transform Macon’s streets into a car-free public space for walking, biking and play.

This part of its 10th-anniversary celebration, and to help make this year’s Open Streets a success, Bike Walk Macon is calling on about 100 people to volunteer.

Bike Walk Macon is inviting the community to experience a more active and connected city by joining this popular program.

Streets will be closed to motorized traffic, allowing everyone to freely walk, bike, skate and explore neighborhoods.

“The free, family-friendly event is a celebration of what’s possible when we reimagine our public spaces,” said Education & Engagement Manager at Bike Walk Macon, Kaylee Pruitt.

Pruitt also mentioned the need for activity partners.

Interested in getting involved? Here’s how:

Host an Activity: We’re looking for activity partners to host free, engaging activities along the routes. From fitness classes and dance performances to story time and sidewalk chalk art, your activity can help bring our streets to life! This is a great way to showcase your organization and get people excited about what you do.

Join the Volunteer Team: We need dozens of volunteers to help with everything from setup, watching intersections, collecting feedback, and more. Volunteering is a rewarding way to meet new people, contribute to a positive community program, and help us ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone.

Visit www.openstreetsmacon.com to learn more, sign up to volunteer, host an activity, and find sponsorship and donation opportunities.
