MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Macon Volunteer Clinic has recently opened a new on-site eye clinic. It’s all thanks to the generosity of donors during the “Giving Tuesday” campaign last November.

“To offer this free service to our patients is really a testament to what this community can provide,” said Mara Beck, Executive Director of Macon Volunteer Clinic.

The clinic, which has been in the making for months, will provide a range of services such as eye examinations and vision screenings. Although, with expanding comes the need for more help.

”We’re going to be looking for volunteers for new eye clinics,” said Volunteer Manager Patricia Mitchell. “So if you are Optometrists or Ophthalmologists and interested in giving just a little bit of your time, we would love to hear from you.”

The Macon Volunteer Clinic provides free primary medical and dental care for adults in Macon-Bibb and Twiggs Counties. To qualify for the services, patients must be actively employed, uninsured, and between the ages of 18 and 64.
