Old Coke Building Sign Placed in Front of New Wendy’s in Fort Valley

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new fast food restaurant in Fort Valley has an historic twist.

The Wendy’s on Camellia Boulevard opens this week and in front of it is the sign from the old Coca-Cola Bottling Plant.

Late last year, the former Coke building destruction caused a lot of controversy, after an address mix-up let to its demolition.

Many residents felt the building near the historic district should’ve been protected. But because of a clerical error, the building was not included under the Historical Preservation Commission. In August, Fort Valley City Council members voted in favor of tearing it down.
