Oil spill causes multiple accidents along I-75 in Macon; truck driver arrested

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The truck driver who’s accused of spilling oil along I-75 Tuesday morning was arrested charged with driving with an unsecured load.

William Tanksley was driving the truck. 

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies covered sand over the oil spill that started on I-75 North near Eisenhower Parkway and extended to the I-75/I-16 split. 

The spill caused several traffic accidents. 

Drivers were asked to avoid the area, and if they have to drive please be cautious and slow down. It was reported that a truck carrying a container of canola oil is the reason behind the accidents.
