Officials Investigating Fatal Fire In East Dublin

EAST DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fire officials are investigating a fatal house fire that happened in East Dublin early Monday morning.

According to Glenn Allen with the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, the fire happened at 189 Rex Miller Road in East Dublin around 1:12 am. Laurens County Deputy Coroner Nathan Stanley says a neighbor heard a pop noise, saw the house fully engulfed and then called 911.

Stanley says the victim in the house fire is 23-year-old Kenyardo Breshawn Oneal. Oneal lived by himself and was renting the home.

Allen says there is about $40,000 worth of estimated damages to the home. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. Allen says they have not ruled out unattended cooking as the cause.

The victim’s body to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy. Stanley says it could take 12 weeks for toxicology reports to come back.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office along with Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and the East Dublin Fire Department are investigating this fire.
