Officials Find Evidence in Burned Cabin Debris in Case of Missing MGSC Student
HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Authorities searching for the body of a missing Middle Georgia State College student found new evidence in burned cabin debris.
On Friday night, investigators sifted through fragments of a home off of Nick Cabero Road in connection with the disappearance of Jmaal Malik Keyes. The cabin tucked away in a densely wooded area in Pulaski County is just miles away from the home of Robert Kane Rolison, a fellow student charged in Keyes’ murder. Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the GBI’s Eastman Office Todd Lowery said the house on Nick Cabero Road caught fire the same day Keyes went missing. The GBI is now working to determine if the fire is connected to this case. GBI Spokeswoman Sherry Lang said the evidence found at the area will be taken to the GBI state crime lab for testing.
Keyes was last seen on the MGSC campus in Cochran on April 25. Since his disappearance, law enforcement agencies have searched the waters of the Ocmulgee River in both Bleckley County and Pulaski counties, by air in the Georgia State Patrol Patrol aviation unit and in the area near the burned home off of Nick Cabero Road.
Keyes body has not been recovered.
