Ocmulgee National Monument Leaders Seek Public Opinion on Park Expansion
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Ocmulgee National Monument leaders want the community’s input on plans to expand the park by 2,800 acres.
A public meeting will be held Thursday, March 6th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ocmulgee Visitor Center to discuss their recent boundary study.
Superintendent of the park, Jim David says depending on the input he and his team receive from the community a revision to the plans may take place.
David added in order to expand the park, the government will have to purchase “a few” homeowners’ private property at fair market value.
