Nurse Navigators to assist cancer patients at Piedmont Macon

Piedmont Macon is hosting a profit share night at Fall Line Brewing Co. on September 26 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Piedmont Macon’s oncology program is helping cancer patients through the Nurse Navigator program.

Manager of Oncology Services at Piedmont Macon, Kimberly Lewis, says the Nurse Navigator program is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for patients. The program helps patients from the beginning when they are diagnosed, until the end of recovery.

According to Piedmont Macon, oncology nurse navigators can help with the following:

  • Understanding your cancer and the treatment plan your physician prescribed
  • Communicating with your doctor and healthcare team
  • Identifying questions to ask your healthcare professional
  • Connecting you to Piedmont care providers
  • Linking you to cancer resources and services at the hospital and in the community
  • Coordinating and scheduling appointments
  • Finding help with transportation and lodging
  • Getting answers to financial and insurance questions

Piedmont Macon is hosting a profit share night at Fall Line Brewing Co. on September 26 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds will go towards Piedmont Macon’s cancer wellness services. The services include educational support, nutrition guidance, stress reduction, expressive arts and support groups.
