Northwoods Academy closed Tuesday due to maintenance issue
Staff members are working to prepare the building so normal operations can resume as soon as possible, according to the district.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County School District officials said Northwoods Academy will remain closed Tuesday after a maintenance issue prompted the cancellation of classes and a scheduled field trip.
In an initial message to media partners Tuesday morning, district officials said the school would be closed due to impacts from overnight storms. Later in the morning, the district issued a clarification stating the closure was actually due to a maintenance concern unrelated to the weather.
“The previously reported closure of Northwoods Academy for today was due to a maintenance concern that is unrelated to the overnight weather,” the district said in a follow-up statement. “We appreciate the community’s patience and concern.”
District officials said the decision to close the school was made with student and staff safety as the top priority. The field trip scheduled for Tuesday was also canceled.
