Northwoods Academy closed Tuesday after overnight storm

According to officials, the school is dealing with some water damage to several classrooms.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Northwoods Academy is closed Tuesday following impacts from severe weather that moved through the area overnight.

School officials announced the closure Tuesday morning, saying the decision was made to prioritize the safety of students and staff after the storm.

According to officials, the school is dealing with some water damage to several classrooms.

In addition to the closure, a field trip that had been scheduled for Tuesday has also been canceled.

Administrators say staff will be working throughout the day to prepare the building so normal operations can resume as soon as possible.

Northwoods Academy officials say they plan to provide another update later Tuesday regarding when students and staff can return.
