Northside High School Sees Four Off To College

Four seniors signed their letters of intent to play college football from Northside High School in Warner Robins.

Briar Van Brunt signed his autograph to play quarterback at Charleston Southern University.

Van Brunt says getting a scholarship to play football is a ‘win-win’ situation.

“I’m going to play a sport I love, while also getting an education,” he says.

Steven Nelson is an All-State Kick Returner, and he is going to Carson-Newman. He says getting a scholarship is a huge relief and lifts alot of pressure off of his shoulders.

Deilouse Jackson made his intent official with Garden Community College. He is a linebacker who says looking forward to signing was a very nerve wracking experience.

“Last night I couldn’t even sleep. I couldn’t sleep last night. But I’m just happy I got a chance, you know, to get a free education,” he says.

Jequandus put his name to paper with the University of the Cumberlands. The defensive lineman also said waiting to sign his papers kept him awake all night.

“I really didn’t sleep last night. I was just so anxious because as a little kid, playing football you always just see everybody. Signing day is where it’s at,” he says.

These four men are on a long list of others who are currently playing football on scholarships from Northside High School.

Right now, 23 players represent Northside High School playing football at the college level.
