Coach Daniel " Boone " Williams Hosts Meet & Greet At Northside High School

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – On Thursday evening, Northside High School held a ‘Meet & Greet’ with new Head Football Coach Daniel ‘Boone’ Williams and the Eagles’ community. The event was rescheduled due to the inclement weather earlier this month.

Northside’s staff, alumni, current students, players, cheerleaders; Everyone was in attendance, as Coach ‘Boone’ spoke to the crowd about who he is, what he plans to bring to the program, and what people can expect to see in the future with Coach ‘Boone’ at the helm of the Eagles’ football program.

Afterwards, 41NBC’s Justin Dierkes spoke with the next Northside Head Coach about the event and what his initial reaction is to the outpouring of support in this fully ‘N’ vested community.

“Shocked. Shocked that this team went 2-8 last year and the people are still rallying behind them because they love Northside” said Coach ‘Boone’ Thursday evening. “That’s one of the biggest things that stuck out to this job. These people don’t leave. Wins, losses, they are going to be here. They are who they are. They are Northside until the day they die and that’s why I’m glad to be here.”

The new Eagles’ football coach went onto speak about how the community can be apart of the change at Northside. “Think about it, football is the one biggest group in the building, right? If we can get them on the same page, it’s going to help change the culture of the school. Behind all of that positivity, wins are going to come and we will be prepared for all situations. The boys are responding to everything I ask them to do right now. We often talk about how big the community is; how loud and proud they are. The players need to understand that, and they need to feel it. It definitely takes a village, and this village is very strong. It’s great to be a Northside Eagle.”

After Coach ‘Boone’ was done speaking, 41NBC’s Justin Dierkes asked the community what their thoughts were on the new Northside hire.

“Love Coach ‘Boone’. Happy and proud that he is with us, but I give him the same respect I have given every other coach here” said Roosevelt Peterson, a.k.a ‘Coach Pete’. “I feel like from meeting him, I already know his reputation. He’s about the kids; trying to make young men into adults, so I’m proud to have him. You’re getting love from Northside. I always tell everybody, ‘welcome home’.”

Another person from the community spoke on the excitement in the air at Northside.

“It’s really exciting. Its a long time coming” said Malik Kareem Gordon. “We’ve been trying to get back to this point, where we are back at ‘Northside football’, and we believe that we are there now. This hire is a good hire. He’s a proven winner. He’s won a state championship, and that’s what we are about at Northside, being a winner.”

A couple of the players from the Eagles football squad also had their thoughts on the new addition to Northside Athletics.

“I feel like it’s great for us because we become better men, and know how to treat people with respect” said Eagles football player Jeremiah Rosier. “The expectations for this year is just to become better men overall, and just do good at class.”

Another player, Ka’Mar Harris, also spoke on the new hiring.

“When Coach ‘Boone’ first got hired, I knew we would be in for a new generation at Northside. So, I’m very hyped for that new generation, and we are going to beat Warner Robins. “Become better men, but also, win games. We need to do that”

2027 graduate Elijah Patmon has had a lot of NCAA Division Schools come to visit already. Patmon can’t wait to get on the field again.

“I’m hyped because when he first came in, everybody was like surprised because its like the first black head coach.”

First Eagles Spring Game is scheduled for May 16.
