Northside High Football Player Shot

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Northside High School football player is recovering after he was shot in the back.

17-year-old Austin Roberts was shot near Wendan Way Sunday night shortly after a confrontation. He ran for help toward the 400 block of Camellia Circle where a neighbor called police. He was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where he was treated.

41 NBC caught up with Roberts who says he’s doing well and will make a full recovery. The defensive tackle showed up at practice in plain clothes and was greeted warmly by his fellow teammates.

Roberts is expected to be back at school tomorrow. He even hopes to hit the football field as soon as possible.
