Northeast High students sign pledge against texting while driving

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Students at Northeasat High School in Macon are learning safety tips behind the wheel, including the dangers of texting while driving.

Juniors and seniors participated in the Monster Jam Don’t Text and Drive event, where they watched what could happen when you’re distracted behind the wheel.

Randy Brown, who drives the popular monster truck “Grave Digger” says it’s important the teens are focused when they’re on the road.

“Cellphones anything like that…it’s a distraction and takes away from what you’re doing which is driving that car safely,” Brown said.

Several dozen students signed the “Don’t Text and Drive” pledge.

Brown is in Macon as part of this weekend’s Monster Truck Jam. He travels around the country urging driver safety to thousands of high school students.
