Night to Unite kicks off with pep rally at Northeast High School
The celebration is an effort to encourage communities to unite against crime by holding various indoor and outdoor neighborhood events and activities with visits from local law enforcement, government officials and firefighters.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Northeast High School held a pep rally Monday to kick off the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Annual Night to Unite, set for Tuesday.
The theme of the rally was Neighbors on the Team to Win Against Crime.
Schools from around the county showed off their talents as part of the celebration, which is an effort to encourage communities to unite against crime by holding various indoor and outdoor neighborhood events and activities with visits from local law enforcement, government officials and firefighters.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with various organizations for the events. According to Sheriff David Davis, it’s a team effort.
“We couldn’t do it without our partners, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Crimestoppers, Fire Department, Neighborhood Watch, the school system,” he said. “That’s how we make a difference in our community. That’s how you’re going to continue to score those touchdowns against crime. The more people you have on the team, the stronger your team, the better you are against any of your opponents.”
“We know that homicides are down 43%, and that’s not just because of me or Sheriff Davis, but that’s because of you (talking to the crowd), and we got to continue this fight,” District Attorney, Anita Howard said.
Shanelle Booker from the U.S. Attorneys Office spoke about how various situations start on social media and then spill out into the streets, causing crime. She recommends that you just block anyone causing trouble and move on, making everyone safer in the process.
During the pep rally, Sheriff Davis referred to Tuesday as the playoff game, saying it’s one they have to win.
The events will begin Tuesday at 10 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m.
