NewTown Macon celebrates First Friday with dance-a-thon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – To celebrate the First Friday of 2015, NewTown Macon hosted its first ever dance-a-thon.

Participants kept moving and shaking until there was a last person standing. The winner received a gift card to The Rookery.

There were also health screenings available for people who attended.

NewTown Macon officials say free events like this bring people to downtown Macon to check out all it has to offer.

“We really want to attract people to downtown Macon and have them understand what’s going on down here,” Nicole Kubas with NewTown Macon said. “All the different businesses that are here and places they can eat or get fitness tips, whatever it may be, just so they know what’s down here.”
