New services at Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center, helping patients with pancreatic and liver cancer

Dr. Salah Abdel Jalil says patients previously had to travel to Atlanta for complicated surgeries linked to pancreatic and liver cancer, but now they can get treatment in Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center is offering new services to help patients with pancreatic and liver cancer.

Dr. Salah Abdel Jalil says patients previously had to travel to Atlanta for complicated surgeries linked to pancreatic and liver cancer, but now they can get treatment in Macon.

According to the Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Jalil specializes in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery (surgery of the digestive tract, liver, pancreas and bile ducts) and complex gastrointestinal (GI) procedures.

“Cancer is a serious condition that we are living in this era,” says Dr. Jalil. “Pancreas is one of the most aggressive cancers that any patient can have. The mortality rate is very high.”

Dr. Jalil says he is not only helping patients with treatment, but also helping them regain their quality of life.
