New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church gives away winter coats
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Some Middle Georgia residents received new coats to keep warm this winter. New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church gave away nearly 200 brand new coats, Saturday.
People crowded into the church’s gymnasium to get the free coats. There were new coats for girls, boys women and men. The winter coats ranged in sizes.
It was the first time the church has raised money to purchase the new coats, according to New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church Pastor, Curtis Raines Sr. Raines says his church is doing the work of Jesus Christ.
“I know if He was here today and saw folks under bridges, outdoors or little children walking to school without a coat, He would make sure they would have a coat on their backs,” says Pastor Raines.
The church gave away the brand new winter coats until everyone that came for a coat got one. They also gave away sweaters and other items.
There was no limit to how many coats were given to a family. One man received nine coats for each of his nine children.
