PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Perry families now have a new option for walk-in medical care.  Piedmont Urgent Care has opened a new location on Sam Nunn Boulevard, near Kroger and next to Red Lobster.

The new clinic in Perry treats adults and children for non-emergency medical needs, including colds, sprains, minor fractures and other illnesses and injuries.

Manager Taylor Liles says there was a need for more urgent care in rural areas like Perry, Fort Valley and Byron.

“In Middle Georgia specifically, there is not enough availability to urgent care services, which allows patient care after the hours of 5 p.m., especially when you consider the need for hospitals,” Liles said. “We have tons of hospitals, but no one wants to go there to wait hours and hours to wait for simple things like coughs, colds or minor injuries. We’re just able to provide that care in a much more efficient setting without interrupting the hospitals.”

Liles says the location takes the burden off the emergency departments at local hospitals.

“Piedmont Macon is a very busy hospital,” Liles said. “And with the availability after 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays, patients aren’t required to go to those hospitals for the care they can receive right here in an urgent care setting. We’re able to do X-rays, blood work, we get lab results back within 24 hours, things you may not get at primary care, especially after a certain time of day or days of the week. Even holidays, we’re here.”

Liles says she’s happy to be able to help those in need of medical attention.

“They’re just so grateful that we’re here and we’re so excited,” she said. “That’s always what you hope for when you come into a community. We want to be here to serve our patients. We want good quality care close to home, and the feedback has been that we are able to provide that, and that is just so fulfilling and rewarding.”

The Perry clinic is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you need to go, you can walk in or reserve a spot online.
