New mobile MRI vehicle allows residents in rural areas to receive medical attention
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgians in rural areas are now able to seek medical attention from Navicent Health’s mobile MRI system.
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which is is a diagnostic test that uses a magnetic field and radio wave energy pulses to image organs and structures within the human body, according to Navicent Health.
A ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the main hospital Wednesday allowed dozens of medical professionals to view the inside of the MRI coach.
Micheal Hajworonsky, Assistant Vice President of Clinical Support Services at Navicent Health, says the mobile system has the features that any doctor’s office offers.
“[We have] anything from oncology, neurology, any type of bone work, blood vessels, abdominal, any of those types of diagnoses or measuring disease progression, we’re able to do and able to provide to communities that could not afford a fixed or a mobile site,” says Hajworonsky.
The lower rates make it easier for people with lower income in rural areas to receive health screenings.
Navicent Health plans to start using the mobile coach at the Medical Center of Peach County, Navicent Health and at the Putnam General Hospital, Navicent Health Partner.
