New Macon business helping boost other businesses

Be Smart Movement gives businesses and residents a leg up.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new business in downtown Macon is giving other businesses help getting off the ground.

Be Smart Movement is a business service provider that helps people achieve business goals or start their own business. They also offer assistance finding jobs for those who cannot read.

The owner, Quashanda Washington, says she wants to fill all the empty buildings around Macon with successful businesses and draw more people to the area.

“I go into these communities, because you see millions of girls who know how to braid hair. They’re very talented but they’re doing it in their houses and apartments,” Washington said. “My goal is to give them a key to the city and say, ‘Let’s form a partnership’, ‘Let’s get you out here in these businesses, and get you licensed.'”

Be Smart Movement provides business showers and marketing and sales tips. It also hosts leadership training classes, business workshops and recruitment for Human Resources.

Washington says she would like to help her community by uplifting entrepreneurs and empowering adults to find jobs.
